Trans-Lux manufactures several LED text-only displays and electronic information boards that are used to present alpha-numeric data. There are several categories of indoor LED text displays to choose from, as well as a number of products with varying features in each category. Multi-line LED Text Displays
These are line- / character-oriented displays and electronic information boards, constructed using module blocks with a 5 x 7 dot matrix to form ASCII characters. Each block is fixed in position and has a unique address, similar to cells in a spreadsheet, representing a single ASCII character. Displays are described in terms of the number of lines high and the number of characters wide. Multi-line text displays and electronic information boards are designed with preset inter-line and inter-character spacing that has been researched for the best possible clarity and optimal long distance viewing.
DataWall® – Presents critical data from a data feed to a large audience.
MenuWall® – Posts frequently changing, custom-developed content from a desktop PC.
VisionWriter® – A free-standing kiosk or wall mounted display that can accept data from a data feed or custom content developed on a PC. Both models are equipped with a customized backlit ID.
Single-line LED Text Displays
Text on single line displays “travels” across the face of the display. The display is fully populated with LEDs so there are no spaces between blocks. It is possible to show simple graphics; however, they are limited by the height of the display and by the complexity of dot-by-dot programming.
InfoWall® – A single line programmable display available in varying lengths to fit small spaces.
Sports Information Display® – Single line display of unlimited length that posts sports information from a sports data feed.
Electronic Tickers
Elerctronic Tickers are the traditional symbol of financial institutions that originally showed market data on two lines in a single color. In the original format, the top line presented alphabetical characters while the bottom showed numeric data. This specific character placement helped to establish the electronic ticker as the most recognizable in the industry. Advancements in hardware, software and data technology have evolved the “electronic ticker” into a new and exciting display with many dynamic presentation features. Today’s electronic tickers are still available in the traditional two-line format, as well as in many styles and colors for indoor or outdoor use.
