Will your electronic LED display be located indoors or outdoors?
The first selection criteria is the physical location of the display.  Manufacturing processes and standards vary for indoor and outdoor models so it is essential to select a display that is suited to its environment to guarantee product reliability.

Outdoor displays require higher brightness levels, measured in nits, to ensure adequate contrast in bright sunlight.  They also need a weatherproof housing to withstand extremes in temperature and humidity that are not applicable to most indoor signage.

It is possible that certain indoor display models may be useable in sheltered outdoor applications with special NEMA-4 enclosures; however these are not "standard" products and additional charges may apply.
